Mission and Ministry

At Woodbine United Methodist, we believe along with the writer of James that "faith without works is dead." Join us as we strive to love God, serve neighbor and follow Jesus by putting our faith into action.

James 2:18b says "You can no more show me your works apart from your faith than I can show you my faith apart from my works. Faith and works, works and faith, fit together hand in glove. " (The Message)

How? We're glad you asked. See below!

Here’s a small sampling:
  • Active Pencil Partnership with Whitsitt School, our local elementary school.
  • Potato Drop -- gleaned produce is shipped to our church where it is repackaged and sent to local hunger relief ministries
  • Trunk or Treat event for neighborhood children
  • Room in the Inn partnership with South End UMC
  • Estoy Aprendiendo (I’m Learning) Hispanic family literacy program
  • Increasing involvement in the community with, for example, plans to reach out to single mothers and their families in our community who comprise about 60% of our neighbors.
  • Several short term Volunteer in Mission trips with members going to Alaska, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, and Mountain T.O.P. (Tennessee Outreach Project)
  • Past and future involvement with Habitat for Humanity
